In this special end-of-year episode, we’re joined by the Dreigiau Doeth – a group of passionate pupils who’ve helped our school achieve something amazing: the Siarter Iaith Gold Award! 

Listen in as they share their journey - discussing the exciting initiatives they’ve led and the creative ways they’ve promoted the Welsh language across the school. We also sit down with Mrs Darch, the teacher who guided and inspired them every step of the way.

Episode 5: The Llan Colliery disaster

In this special episode of Gair o'r Garth, Mr Owen sits down with four pupils from Year 4 to discuss one of the saddest events in the village - the Llan Colliery disaster. The episode discusses what happened during the disaster, how it affected the community, and why it is still remembered today. The pupils share what they have learned through their research and the impact the disaster had on the families and the area.

In addition, the children share their experience of taking part in the special memorial service marking 150 years since the disaster, reflecting on how the day deepened their understanding of the importance of remembering the past.
